Acupuncture:

Katie Cranstoun now offers acupuncture for your animals who may be suffering from aches and pains and other conditions like arthritis

Katie Cranstoun BVetMed(hons) MRCVS recently attended a veterinary acupuncture course and is now ABVA accredited.  This means she is available to do acupuncture on your pet to help alleviate pain, aches and symptoms of arthritis.

Acupuncture is a treatment which involves the stimulation of specific points in the body, by the insertion of very fine, pre-sterilised, stainless steel needles. This often superficial stimulation generates many responses within the animal's nervous and endocrine system. It can affect muscles, and the circulatory, reproductive, digestive and urinary systems. Acupuncture increases the body's release of natural painkillers - endorphin and serotonin and modifies pain pathways in the brain and spinal cord.

The Western view of acupuncture is used predominantly in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and, in particular, chronic pain states in animals, that have been diagnosed by conventional veterinary medicine.  Acupuncture can be used to treat dogs, horses and cats. Treatable conditions include back pain, arthritis and muscle and ligament sprains, strains and spasms.
