Ticks are blood sucking parasites, they live in long grass and shrubs where they wait to attach to a passing host. They are commonly found in woods and places where deer a present. They generally drop off the animal once they have fed and are full, but this may take a few days.
Ticks can be painful and irritant to your animal and can cause irritation. Ticks also carry a lot of diseases, for example Lyme disease, Tick-borne menigioencephalitis. It is therefore very important to try to prevent your animal getting ticks.
If you do notice a tick on your pet then it is best you bring them to us and we will remove the tick. We will also show you how to remove them properly and safely for the future. There are spot on products that can be used to repel and kill ticks.
