John P Sauvage
BA (Hons) BVetMed CertSAC MRCVS
John Sauvage has been in the practice since 1976 and obtained his certificate in Small Animal Cardiology in 1990.
As well as seeing cardiac referrals, including ECG faxes from as far afield as Saudi Arabia, he also has an interest in veterinary dentistry. An active member of the British Veterinary Dental Association, he has been on their referral list for many years and is able to carry out complex orthodontics, endodontics and periodontics.
John has lectured in Cardiology and Veterinary Practice Management to other Veterinary Surgeons all over the UK and the Republic of Ireland and as far afield as Portugal & Australia. He is now firmly back in the Practice but still gives the occasional lecture.
John is married with two sons and a daughter and has a passion for sport, playing tennis regularly for Headcorn in Kent. He qualified as a soccer referee whilst at university because he was unable to get into the college team. He also attempts to play one round of golf every 10 years but describes his golf as “cross country hockey”. In 1999, he obtained his advanced open water scuba diving qualification. John is a keen gardener but prefers growing edible plants whilst leaving his wife, Sandra, to tend to the rest of the garden apart from his grass tennis court.
Michael V Dale
MA VetMB MRCVS Cert Vet Ac, Clinical Director PSP
Mike Dale joined our team of Veterinary Surgeons at the end of 2010 as Clinical Director. He is an Acupuncture Specialist with a background in first opinion and referral Veterinary Practice. The first opinion work includes Large Animals and Equine but the majority of his time will be spent on the dog and cat clinical side leading our growing team of Veterinary Surgeons.
As an ex-partner of Crowhurst & Partners (which became Newnham Court) he is pleased to return to frontline veterinary work helping John Sauvage to spend more time managing the practice as well as continuing to see his cardiac and dental referrals. “It is great to get such an experienced colleague to join our team” says John Sauvage “and the Practice will continue to go from strength to strength”.
Mike is married to Mercia and lists his family as top of his list of interests alongside exercising their Rhodesian Ridgeback “Zula”. In 1989, a member of Headcorn Parachute Club he shared in a United Kingdom skydiving formation record at Sibson airfield, Peterborough. He regards coming back to Kent as coming home. His eldest son, Alex now works abroad.
Nicola Carrier
BVetMed MRCVS
Nicola qualified from The Royal Veterinary College and started working for us immediately in 2007. She enjoys all aspects of small animal work. She is currently studying towards a certificate in small animal internal medicine. Nicola is married and lives with her husband Gary and dogs Maddy whom she rescued in August 2007 and Scamp whom she rescued in September 2009. She enjoys reading, walking Maddy and Scamp on the beach and training at dog agility.
Luca Gaffuri
DVM MRCVS
Luca graduated from Milan Italy, after which he did an externship in Washington State University in the USA. His first job in the UK was in a practice in Wales where he particularly enjoyed the farm side of the job. He joined us in the Autumn 2007 and works with all species, including large animals . He spends his spare time training to get his Private Pilot Licence on light aircrafts and enjoys travelling abroad.
Katie Rose
BVetMed MRCVS
Katie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, after which she worked for the PDSA small animal hospital. She grew up in Tenterden so is very happy to be moving back to the area and keen to become involved in the equine and small animal side of the practice. In her spare time Katie rows, runs and rides her horse Joey. She is also kept busy by her two mini Shetlands and dogs Ben and Millie.
Ed Shurlock
BSc (Hons) BVSc MRCVS
Ed Shurlock graduated in 2010. Originally from North Yorkshire Ed has spent the last 6 years studying at the University of Liverpool for his Vet degree, which included an extra year studying for a BSc in Veterinary Conservation Medicine. He is interested in farm and small animal work, including exotic pets and wildlife. Ed is moving to Cranbrook with his wife and their 9 year old rescue dog “Chaz”. When not working Ed enjoys walking the dog, cycling and participating in conservation work whenever possible.
Katie Cranstoun
BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS
Katie first joined PSP after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2007. After leaving for a year to work in equine practice, she returned to PSP in October 2011. Katie has a particular interest in small animal surgery and in equine medicine. She also has a qualification in acupuncture. Katie lives with her husband Stewart, their boxer Cooper and two rescue cats Tatty and Doug. She also has two horses Bacardi and Charley (another rescue!). In her free time she enjoys horse riding and surfing.
