John P Sauvage BA (Hons) BVetMed CertSAC MRCVS

John Sauvage qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1973  and obtained his certificate in Small Animal Cardiology in 1990.

As well as seeing cardiac referrals, including ECG faxes from as far afield as Saudi Arabia, he also has an interest in veterinary dentistry. An active member of the British Veterinary Dental Association, he has been on their referral list for many years and is able to carry out complex orthodontics, endodontics and periodontics. In spite of the pressure of referral work, John also sees many first opinion cases in small animals

John has wide experience as a teacher and lecturer since running courses for the Agricultural Training Board in the late 1970’s. He now regularly lectures on Small Animal Veterinary Cardiology and Practice Management both in the UK and abroad, most notably Novartis’ launch of Program Plus (Sentinal) in Australia, where he spoke in front of large veterinary audiences in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.

John is married with two children and an adult son and has a passion for sport, playing tennis regularly for Headcorn in Kent. He qualified as a soccer referee whilst at university because he was unable to get into the college team. He also attempts to play one round of golf every 10 years but describes his golf as “cross country hockey”. In 1999, he obtained his advanced open water scuba diving qualification. John is a keen gardener but prefers growing edible plants whilst leaving his wife, Sandra, to tend to the rest of the garden apart from his grass tennis court.
