Katie Cranstoun now offers acupuncture for your animals who may be suffering from aches and pains and other conditions like arthritis
Overfeeding, lifestyle changes and lack of exercise are all reasons why nearly 50% of pets are overweight.
As a pet owner myself I realise that it is often very hard to recognise when your pet is overweight, however facing the problem is vital to the health and longevity of your pet!
When your pet is overweight it increases the chances of conditions, such as:
Diabetes
Mobility disorders
Heart disease
High blood pressure
Skin Problems
We offer weight management clinics at the Cranbrook Branch, this is also a free of charge service for all clients, and is by appointment only, please call the surgery to arrange a convenient time.
We have many success stories one example is Jade the Cat:
“We found Jade at a rescue centre and we were attracted by her looks, temperament and that she was clearly a ‘lap cat’. However, because of the latter, Jade had no interest in going outside and leading a normal cat life, it was pretty much eat and sleep with no exercise. By doing so, her weight blossomed to 6.5Kg in June 2004. Through her regular health checks at Pierson Stewart & Partners, it was picked up early on that her weight increased to a level that was putting her heart and health in jeopardy. With the help of Pierson Stewart & Partners putting her on a balanced prescription diet with the elimination of all treats, Jade’s weights initially dropped 40% to 3.90Kg in December 2005. However with the introduction of the odd treat of tuna and duck, Jade has maintained a good weight loss of 30% less than her original weight and has been around the 4.50Kg since June 2006. Jade is now much more active, and this is evident by her chasing butterflies and birds in the garden!”
